How do I join a music library as a musician?

What is a music library?

A music library for sync, also known as a sync licensing library or music synchronization library, is a collection of pre-cleared music tracks that are available for use in various media productions such as films, TV shows, commercials, video games, and online videos.

Joining a music library can be a great way to get your music heard by a wider audience and potentially earn royalties from sync licensing.

Here are some common types of sales that you can earn from music licensing:

1. Synchronization Fee

Synchronization Fee (Sync Fee) refers to the music usage fee, paid by the client when the music is used.

*DEARBRAND PRODUCTION (DBP) only receives compensation when a transaction with a client is completed in the form of a “success fee”, DEARBRAND PRODUCTION will receive a portion of the sync fee as compensation.

* Conclusion of transaction with a client (with the decision to use music)

DBP will receive the compensation and pay the balance to you.

2. Performance royalties

Performance royalties are generated when your music is publicly performed, such as on TV, radio, streaming services, or in live performances. Performance royalties are collected by performing rights organizations (PROs) such as ASCAP, BMI, or SESAC, and distributed to the composers and publishers based on the frequency and scope of the performances.

The song has to be registered and the artist has to be a member of PRO.

3. Sub-publishing royalties:

Sub-publishing royalties are generated when your music is licensed in foreign territories, and the local music publishers or sub-publishers collect and distribute royalties on behalf of the composers and publishers.

How do I join DearBrand's music library?

Currently, about 5000 songs are registered and managed in our library.

All of them are handpicked by us.

DBP will only accept high-quality work.

[Criteria for participation in the library]

About song rights

DearBrand Production will sign a document that says “DearBrand Production does not own the rights to your songs.”

*In addition, DearBrand Production will not ask for any costs when registering or canceling songs.

DBP may not be able to respond to every submission, but we would be happy to handle your songs in our music catalog.

A sync or music library—used in film, TV, ads, games, and online content—is a curated collection of pre-cleared tracks available for licensing. To get your music included, you'll typically need high-quality, sync-ready tracks, an understanding of exclusive vs. non-exclusive deals, a performance rights organization (PRO), and possibly partnerships with syncing agents or platforms. Excellence, polish, and pitching the right way are the keys to getting noticed.
